The Fukuoka Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced that applications for the fifth round of the premium digital voucher program “FUKUOKA NEXT Pay (NexPay)” will begin on March 13. The vouchers allow users to receive ¥6,000 in purchasing power for every ¥5,000 spent, providing a 20% bonus. The digital vouchers will be valid from late March through the end of September at registered retail and restaurant locations across Fukuoka City. Individuals can purchase up to six units, or ¥30,000. The total program value is ¥10 billion, with the ¥2 billion premium portion subsidized by Fukuoka Prefecture and Fukuoka City using national economic support funds. Officials said the electronic voucher program was adopted as an alternative to distributing government-backed rice coupons.
