Fukuoka Woman Scammed of ¥90 Million in Crypto Fraud

A 50-year-old woman in Fukuoka City was defrauded of about ¥90 million in cryptocurrency by someone posing as a foreign man she met through a dating app. According to Fukuoka Chuo Police, she met the suspect online in August and gradually developed romantic feelings. Persuaded to invest in cryptocurrency as “future living funds,” she transferred assets ten times between August 30 and October 6 to an address provided by the suspect. Police are investigating the case as an SNS-based romance scam and are urging people to reject unsolicited messages and consult family before sending money. Source: TNC
