Amaou has remains at the top of national strawberry brands with the highest average sales price per kilogram for fifteen years in a row. The strawberry from Fukuoka hit stores in 2003 and has since been one of the most popular brands of the fruit. During the last season (between October 2018 and June 2019,) the strawberry sold at a record-high price of ¥1,470 per kilogram. Besides the high quality, producers of Amaou have been eager to promote the brand by actively collaborating with confectionery and beverage companies as well as restaurants.
