A survey conducted by Fukuoka City reveals that the city’s yatai (street food stalls) have reached their highest ever positive image among residents and tourists. Conducted in November last year with 535 city residents, 74.0% expressed a “good” image of the yatai, marking a 23.5-point increase from a decade ago. Complaints about odors and dirty roads around the stalls decreased from 45.7% to 30.1%, and concerns over hygiene dropped from 73.1% to 63.0%. However, issues regarding unclear pricing saw an increase to 39.8%. The city acknowledges the need to improve awareness of pricing regulations and is committed to enhancing communication to make yatai more accessible and understood by the community.
