Globis to Invest in Kyushu

Tokyo-based Globis, which operates business schools in Fukuoka and four other major cities, announced plans to invest up to ¥3 billion in Kyushu companies using its venture capital subsidiary, Globis Capital Partners. Investments are expected to focus on sectors with an eye on expanding into Asia and IT. To date, Globis Capital Partners has invested more than ¥50 billion in over 40 companies in Japan, including Fukuoka’s own Link Inc., which aims to enter the regional air carrier market next year, and Hope Inc., which offers advertising services to local governments. Globis president Yoshito Hori also made clear his intentions to launch the Fukuoka Venture Series, a series of courses led by venture company executives from Tokyo and Fukuoka, this October.
