Golden Week’s Dontaku Festival: 2 Million Visitors Expected

The outline of the annual Golden Week event “Hakata Dontaku Port Festival” has been announced. This year, the festival will be held as usual for the first time in four years, and around 2 million visitors are expected. The 62nd annual “Hakata Dontaku Port Festival” will take place on May 3rd and 4th. In recent years, the festival had been canceled or held with scaled-down parades due to the impact of COVID-19, but this year it will be held as usual for the first time in four years. The festival promotion association of Fukuoka City expects approximately 2 million visitors over the two days. About 760 groups and 23,000 people are scheduled to participate in parades and performances, and singer-songwriter Masayoshi Yamazaki will appear at the eve festival on the 2nd. The Dontaku official website has been renewed, and Kyushu Live will present two livestreams during the festival. Subscribe to Kyushu Live on YouTube to get a notification. Source: RKB
