Fukuoka Prefecture Governor Wataru Aso led a 34-member delegation to Taiwan to promote economic ties between the prefecture and that country. The group arrived in Taiwan on November 10. This was the first visit by a Fukuoka Prefecture governor to Taiwan since diplomatic ties between Japan and Taiwan were ended in 1972. The group stayed for two days for discussions with officials from the Taiwan Ministry of Finance and the Three-Three Association, Taiwan’s most influential business organization. They talked about strengthening ties for such sectors as semiconductors, agricultural products, and tourism.
