The Kyushu Association of Corporate Executives issued a report calling for the creation of “Food Island Kyushu”, which incorporate the establishment of a Kyushu research institute to improve the productivity of the regional agricultural and maritime industries to improve its standing both domestically and internationally as a source of food. The report includes proposals for establishing agriculture and maritime industries with high productivity, creating a supply system that guarantees safety, and developing new markets for food products with high added value. The report also expressed concern about the aging of food producers and the shortage of people to succeed to their businesses.
