JR Kyushu received approval for the Hakata Connected redevelopment program for its office building construction project on the site of the former Higashi Sogo Chosha. The exterior of the twelve-story building will be designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen, the company that created the National Library of Denmark. A cafe will open on the first floor and serve Fukuoka-sourced dishes. JR Kyushu will produce the project with two collaborating companies and hopes to create an additional visitor attraction around JR Hakata Station. Source: Nikkei / Sankei / JR Kyushu
