Preparations have begun in Fukuoka City for the upcoming Yamakasa festival, which is expected to take place without mask requirements or other COVID-19 restrictions. On June 1st, 70 participants of the seventh Ebisu flow, dressed in traditional long Happi coats, carried out a pre-festival ritual without masks. The Hakata Gion Yamakasa General Meeting later decided against implementing coronavirus-related guidelines such as the number of carriers or mask wearing. The festival, delayed twice due to the pandemic, is now set to hold its first regular event in four years. This event marks a significant step towards normalcy and has been greeted with enthusiasm by the community. Source: KBC
