
Yesterday, Fukuoka City filled its resident sinkhole with 3m of soil and will soon begin repairing utility cables and pipes. The city announced on Nov. 9 their plan for provisional restoration of the road by the evening of Nov. 14. On that date they will also announce the official cause of the road’s collapse. Telephone lines, gas lines and other infrastructure are all planned to be restored by Nov. 14. After the restoration is complete, vehicles and pedestrians will be able to start using the road. The schedule to resume subway construction has not yet been announced. The completion of the subway extension may be delayed as a result of the accident. Source: Asahi Shinbun Digital, 11/10
