The Fukuoka Softbank Daiei Hawks hosted the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the Yahoo! Dome in Fukuoka City to start their 2008 season. The Hawks were down by two runs going into the bottom of the ninth, but won the game with a dramatic walk-off home run by outfielder Hiroshi Shibahara. This season will be the last as Hawks’ manager for Japanese baseball legend Sadaharu Oh.
