Trials for e-scooter without helmets began in Fukuoka City on Apr. 27. The mayor of the city, Soichiro Takashima, attended a ceremony where he demonstrated a ride along the road in front of Fukuoka City Hall. While the national traffic rules mandate the use of helmets upon riding electric kickboards, special approval has been made to allow more flexible use of shared e-scooters.
