A local society in Dazaifu, Fukuoka Prefecture, has published an 8-volume encyclopedia on the 1,200-year history of the Dazaifu Shinto shrine. The encyclopedia was written entirely by volunteers over a period of five years and six months. The supervisor of the project thinks it is the first of its kind in the country.
