Hotter Summer Expected in Northern Kyushu

The Fukuoka District Meteorological Observatory forecasts that northern Kyushu will see above-average temperatures from May through July. May is expected to be “average to above average” in temperature due to elevated atmospheric heat linked to climate change. June and July are forecasted to be “above average” as warm air from the south dominates the region.

Rainfall over the three-month period is projected to be close to normal. However, with the Pacific high pressure extending more strongly over Japan, warm and humid air is likely to increase, potentially leading to periods of intensified rainfall during the rainy season in June and July. Authorities advise early measures against heatstroke and preparedness for possible heavy rainfall, which has become more frequent during the rainy season in recent years. Source: NHK
