IMPORTANT – Corona Special Alert Issued To Prevent Spread Of Virus

In response to the spread of the new coronavirus, priority measures to prevent the spread of the virus have been applied to Fukuoka Prefecture from today. The measures will be in effect until the 20th of next month. Governor Hattori told reporters this morning, “The spread of the infection is still unstoppable, and the utilization rate of hospital beds may exceed 30%. The greatest countermeasure is for every one of us to thoroughly implement basic infection prevention measures and act with caution. The content of the request is unchanged from the previous measures taken by the prefecture alone, but we would like to ask for further cooperation and understanding.

Fukuoka Prefecture has already issued its own corona alert and has been requesting restaurants to shorten their business hours since the 24th of this week, and will continue to request shorter hours during the period of priority measures to prevent the spread of the disease. Under the priority measures based on the law, it is possible to issue an “order” to restaurants that do not respond to the request, and if they still do not comply, it is possible to impose a fine of up to ¥200,000. The prefecture plans to switch the corona alert to a special alert if the utilization rate of hospital beds reaches 30% and discuss with the government the possibility of issuing a state of emergency declaration if the rate exceeds 50%.
