The Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) announced the results of a survey into factories (excluding facilities connected to the electrical industry). An 18.8% rise in the number of new constructions built and developments to existing facilities was recorded in Kyushu during 2017. The biggest increase came from factories engaged in food-related industries, transportation machinery, and metal products. Kyushu was home to 9.4% of factory developments in Japan, which represented an increase from the previous year. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 3/28/2018
