India plans to open a new consulate in Fukuoka by the end of the year, marking its second consulate in Japan after Osaka. The decision comes in response to Kyushu’s growing importance as a hub for industries like semiconductors, EV batteries, and hydrogen technology. The consulate will support economic ties, especially following the expansion of semiconductor manufacturing in the region, including TSMC’s factory in nearby Kumamoto.
The consulate aims to strengthen India-Japan cooperation, particularly in cutting-edge industries where Kyushu plays a key role. Source: KBC
