The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry and the Ministry of the Environment released figures on the 7th showing the amount of greenhouse gases emitted by companies nationwide and by each prefecture. The Kyushu company with the highest amount of emissions was Sumitomo Metal Kokura, which topped the list for the second straight year. The regional prefecture with the most emissions was Fukuoka Prefecture, which ranked eighth nationwide, followed by Oita Prefecture, ranked 10th. The rest of Kyushu’s prefectures were far down the list of national rankings, with Kagoshima Prefecture ranked the lowest at 44th.
