Fukuoka City based company, Chikaranomoto, operators of Hakata Ippudo Ramen have opened a new shop in Singapore. Interestingly, it does not serve ramen but instead it offers sake (Japanese rice wine). The shop is called “Bar Ippudo” and stocks sake from 22 breweries mostly located in Fukuoka and Oita prefectures. To go along with the sake, oden and other otsumami (Japanese snacks) are on the menu. In total there are 80 varieties of sake. The company plans to open similar shops, 10 in total, overseas in cities such as New York, and Paris by 2016. The shop also sells sake by the bottle for take out.
