Ito Lab+: Fukuoka’s Innovative Research & Development Center

A new research and development hub, complete with research facilities, shops, and rental apartments, has been established within walking distance of Kyushu University in the Nishi Ward of Fukuoka City. The area is expected to see further urban development centered around the university. Opening on April 8th, the hub is named “Ito Lab+,” located a 10-minute walk from Kyushu University’s Ito Campus. The site occupies an area of 3.1 hectares, consisting of seven buildings, including research and development buildings, a commercial building with a large bookstore, and rental apartments. The research and development building features approximately 60 rental offices and labs for businesses, as well as rooms equipped with state-of-the-art devices that can be used for free. Around 40% of the spaces are already occupied, with some Kyushu University departments also planning to move in. The commercial building houses a large bookstore (Tsutaya), while the store building includes eateries. The two rental apartment buildings offer 537 furnished studio apartments, available to both Kyushu University students and the general public. Source: ItoLab+ / NHK
