Japan Fisheries (JF) Itoshima announced on June 18 that “Itoshima Kaki (糸島カキ)” has been registered in May as a regional collective trademark for Itoshima-produced oysters. With the trademark approved by the Japan Patent Office, the organization expects more uniformed and effective promotional efforts to be made. In winter 2018, the city attracted 530,000 guests to its 27 oyster huts. The harvest of the season totaled 525 tons, valued at ¥505 million.
