The Izutsu-ya department stores of Kitakyushu announced that starting in March, they will add five or six regularly scheduled off days to their operating schedule. The stores have traditionally been closed only on New Year’s Day. The new policy is to be implemented at the flagship store in Kokura Ward and the Kurosaki branch in Yahatanishi Ward. The objective is to improve revenue by lowering expenses during the economic downturn.
