JAL To Join Oita Space Airport Project

Japan Airlines announced on Dec. 12 that it would participate in a project being considered by Oita Prefecture, Sierra Space, and Kanematsu to use Oita Airport as a landing site for space carriers. The three parties believe that they can make use of their expertise in ground handling, from the time an aircraft arrives at the airport until its departure. Sierra is preparing to use the space transporter “Dream Chaser” to transport supplies and experimental materials to the International Space Station (ISS). Oita Airport may be used as an Asian landing base for the transport ship returning to Earth from the ISS. Source: JAL / Nikkei
