Overnight on May 5th, JR Hakata Station carried out track switching operations in preparation for the construction of a new mixed-use building as part of the “Hakata Station Sky City Project.” Approximately 300 workers were involved in removing rails and sleepers to make way for the new structure. The track switching continued throughout the night, with plans to install building supports in the vacated space once the new tracks were connected. The 12-story, 50,000 square meter complex, set to be completed by December 2028, will house offices, hotels, and commercial facilities. Source: RKB / KBC
