JR Kyushu and Kumamoto Prefecture have finalized plans to restore the Hisatsu Line between Yatsushiro and Hitoyoshi, which has been suspended since the 2020 floods. The agreement includes the discontinuation of three stations, including Setoishi, and allocates roughly ¥40 billion for reconstruction and ridership promotion. Operations are expected to resume around FY2033. The decision follows extensive discussions on cost-sharing and infrastructure strategy since 2022. Source: NHK
