JR Kyushu Announces Metropolis in the Sky

JR Kyushu announced the establishment of a project team to develop a new “metropolis in the sky” above JR Hakata Station. Company president Toshihiko Aoyagi announced the concept for the new project at a press conference on Mar. 19, while explaining the company’s mid-term plan for 2019-2021. With the extension of the Subway Nanakuma Line as well as the possible opening of a new route for Kyushu Shinkansen, an increasing number of people will visit the station, and new business opportunities will be developed. The company envisions the development of a building complex hosting offices, a hotel, and shopping facilities. Source: JR Kyushu, 3/19/2019
