JR Kyushu Carries Cargo on Shinkansen Passenger Seats

JR Kyushu Railway Company and Sagawa Express Co., Ltd. are set to begin shinkansen (bullet train) parcel shipping services in May 2021. On Feb. 24, the two companies conducted a trial to ship multiple parcels from Kagoshima to Hakata, using seats originally intended for in-train passenger sales. By traveling between the two stations in about 1.5 hours, the new system would enable same-day deliveries between the two regions.  Source: Nikkei / Sankei
