On July 22, JR Kyushu began a demonstration test of Visa Touch Payment, a contactless payment system developed by the major U.S. credit card company Visa, between Hakata and Kashii stations on the Kagoshima Main Line. The system was introduced at five stations: Hakata, Yoshizuka, Hakozaki, Chihaya and Kashii. Dedicated terminals have been installed at the ticket gates and can be used with credit and debit cards and smartphones equipped with Visa Touch functionality. This will eliminate the need to purchase tickets or recharge transportation system IC cards at ticket vending machines, which is expected to also help reduce congestion. The test is scheduled to run through March of next year. Source: FIBA
