On October 16, a new sightseeing train of JR Kyushu, “36 Plus 3”, departed from Hakata Station for the first time. The name “36+3,” derives from Kyushu being the 36th largest island in the world, with “+3” representing passengers, local residents and the railway company. The shiny, pitch-black train set out on Nagasaki’s return journey as part of its four-day trip around Kyushu (*currently, the route is partially changed due to damage from heavy rainfall in July.) The luxury train is less expensive than JR’s Seven Stars, and its designer-developed interior features a tatami floor. Source: NHK / Asahi
