JR Kyushu announced that it earned 20.272 billion yen of current profit in FY 2011, an increase of 2.3 times from the previous year, on revenue of 332.8 billion yen, a 12% increase. Both amounts break company records established in FY 2000. It was also the first increase in profits in four years. The excellent performance was attributed to the full opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen, as well as the new JR Hakata Station building.
