JR Kyushu to Grow Amanatsu

JR Kyushu Farm Oita announced it will start cultivating in July the amanatsu, a hybrid citrus fruit, to follow up its successful cultivation of nira, or Chinese chives, in Oita Prefecture. They will lease land from local farmers to grow the amanatsu and expect to harvest 1.2 tons next spring. The company plans to sell the fruit to group company cafeterias and hotels.
