JR Kyushu is planning to reduce the number of trains running in the urban area of Fukuoka. The president of the company, Toshihiko Aoyagi, explained at a press conference that the impact of the new coronavirus spread has significantly reduced the number of commuters in and around Fukuoka City. The adjustment will be reflected in the new train schedule from the spring of 2021. He also pointed out that the situation might not recover fully even after society gets over the pandemic. Meanwhile, he insisted that the company would not cut unprofitable local routes due to the corona-induced financial hardship. Source: Nikkei
