JR Kyushu’s New High Trimaran to Begin Service in July

JR Kyushu has announced that reservations for the Queen Beetle will begin on January 30. As the world’s first 80m class trimaran it will connect Fukuoka to Busan in 3 hours and 40 minutes. The new express ferry is scheduled to start operation on July 15, with an expanded capacity of 502 persons. While construction of the ship continues in Australia, Australia’s Ambassador to Japan, Richard Court, visited Fukuoka to join a press conference on January 21 and expressed his expectations that the new ship will improve travel opportunities between Japan and Korea. A standard class ticket will cost ¥16,000 for a one-way trip, while a business class seat will be sold for an additional ¥5,000. A duty-free shop, outdoor viewing deck, and other amenities will be available en route. Source: Sankei 01/22/2020
