JR Kyushu Profitable For First Time in Three Years

JR Kyushu announced its interim financial results for the current fiscal year on November 1. The company posted a profit for the first time in three years, thanks to the return of railroad and hotel passengers, which had declined due to the impact of the new Corona. The railroad business alone posted an operating income of 0.8 billion yen due to cost reductions such as more efficient window operations and the return of rail and hotel customers, which had declined due to the new Corona. Revenue from the railroad business was only 73% of what it was in 2018 before the Corona disaster. Source: JR Kyushu / RKB
