Fukuoka City announced that it will put ashtrays back in Kego Park. The City’s maintenance section had removed the ashtrays last November due to complaints about the effect of smoke on passers-by; however, an increase in cigarette butt litter has led the City to re-install them in a different, less traversed part of the park. A City official was quoted as saying, “This is a desperate measure. We hope smokers will mind their manners.” Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 2/20
