It was announced that Kego Park in Tenjin will reopen on Dec 1. The layout has been improved to promote public safety at night and the space will have a more open feeling. Sidewalks have been widened and benches and flower beds have been installed in the park and the surrounding area to encourage visitors to come. The restroom facilities have also been remodeled to make them brighter. The winter skating rink will open Dec. 1~Jan. 14. The rink is made of plastic, not ice, and is 1.5 times bigger than last year’s rink. The fee to skate is ¥250 for elementary school age children or younger and ¥500 for those older. Kego Park’s re-opening ceremony on the evening of Dec. 1 includes a special ice-skating performance by Takeshi Honda. Honda, who won bronze in the world ice skating championship, is promoting the Grand Prix Final happening in Fukuoka City next year, from Dec. 5~8 2013.
