Kitakyushu ANA Cargo Flights Announced

All Nippon Airways (ANA) announced that they will operate regular cargo flights via Kitakyushu Airport beginning this summer. ANA Cargo’s new route, which will run five times a week, will connect Kansai, Kitakyushu, and Naha. Starting June 4, flights will leave Kansai at 22:00, stop in Kitakyushu at 23:10, and then land in Naha at 2:30. This means that goods leaving Japan late at night will be able to reach six airports around Asia (Shanghai, Hong Kong, Taipei, Seoul, Bangkok, and Singapore) by early the next morning, boosting industries that rely on export in western Japan. Boeing 767 aircraft with a capacity of approximately 50 tons and ability to carry even large and dangerous cargo will be used. Kitakyushu City estimated that around 30% of automobile parts and semiconductor products produced in the Kyushu region are transported to Kansai or Narita Airport by land. The new route will reduce transportation costs and make it easier to export goods to major cities throughout Asia. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 1/18/2018
