Kitakyushu City is working on reducing plastic wastes in Southeast-Asian countries through a partnership with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP.) The city’s private companies will export schemes of recycling and waste to energy power generation technology. At the same time, Kitakyushu Asian Center for Low Carbon Society matches them with individual demands in the region. For the fiscal year of 2020, the city is planning to allocate a budget of over ¥10 million for the project. Source: UN Environment
