To realize the vision of “Sushi City Kitakyushu,” a council comprising local sushi restaurants, fisheries, and city officials was established on August 7. The council aims to promote Kitakyushu’s sushi culture and leverage the accessibility of Kokura Station to attract international tourists. Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi expressed confidence in Kitakyushu’s sushi as a world-class offering. The council will continue selling fixed-price coupons for a sushi and soup set at 3,800 yen and is considering organizing market tours to enhance the sushi dining experience.
