The Kitakyushu branch of the Bank of Japan released a report on the recycling industry in that city showing that it employs 2,692 people. That number accounts for 0.64% of the national total of people employed in the industry, which is the highest percentage of 63 regions in the country, including Tokyo’s 23 wards and 15 government-designated cities. In second place nationwide was Saitama Prefecture, with a percentage of 0.45%.
