As part of its emergency economic measures, the city of Kitakyushu is seriously considering offering the use of local facilities as convention sites for free to attract users. They expect the outlays for food and lodging by convention participants to boost the local economy. The city is also considering including private sector facilities as well as municipally owned facilities in the same policy. A formal decision is expected by the end of the year.
