Kitakyushu announced Happy and Charmy as the names of its two new city mascots on Oct. 19, 2026. Designed by Susumu Matsushita, they are presented as the children of Space World’s former mascots, Lucky Rabbit and Vicky Rabbit. The city narrowed public name suggestions to three options for each character before holding a final vote. Sixth-graders at Sone Higashi Elementary School counted 7,598 votes submitted from inside and outside the city. The pair will appear at city events and on social media. Source: FBS News / TNC News
