Kitakyushu Partners with IT Firm for New Elderly Care Job Matching Service

Kitakyushu City has announced a partnership with Tokyo-based IT company Plus Robo to launch a job matching service aimed at connecting local residents interested in elderly care with facilities seeking support staff. Starting in February 2025, the program will match volunteers with care facilities through an online platform. Unlike traditional caregiving roles, the program focuses on auxiliary tasks such as meal preparation, serving, and assisting with recreational activities. Participants will be compensated as paid volunteers, contributing to care services in a non-medical capacity.

The initiative is part of the city’s effort to bolster its caregiving workforce and build a community-based support system for the elderly. Kitakyushu Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi emphasized the importance of sharing caregiving responsibilities to strengthen the local care infrastructure. Plus Robo’s CEO Ryohei Suzuki also highlighted that the program is designed to engage residents without formal caregiving qualifications, offering them a way to contribute based on their skills.
