The city of Kitakyushu announced it will begin in November research and development into technology for the low cost recycling of solar energy panels. It will be a four-year project, and the city said it hopes to develop a new business model for a resource recycling society. The first such effort of its kind in Japan, the project has been outsourced by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO).
