Kitakyushu Transit Reform Chosen for National Pilot

A public-private partnership in Kitakyushu City aiming to address declining public transit use has been selected for a national initiative. With ridership down 70% compared to 60 years ago and a worsening driver shortage, the city will collaborate with companies to recruit drivers and support affordable transportation services such as shared taxis. Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi emphasized the goal of creating a sustainable public transport system through joint efforts between the city and private sector.
