Fukuoka City unveiled a five-seat shared taxi that will begin operating in Kitazaki, Nishi Ward, on September 14. The district currently has only one scheduled bus route, making access to shopping and medical appointments a continuing challenge for residents. The city developed the service with local taxi companies, and residents joined a trial ride on August 17. Fukuoka plans to introduce similar services in other areas, including Minami and Jonan wards.
