Kokura Ward Helps Nurses From Indonesia Re-Test In Japan

The Physicians’ Association of Kokura Ward, Kitakyushu City is promoting a program to allow Indonesian nurses who came to Japan under a bilateral agreement but failed to pass the national nursing exam to take the exam again. In place since fiscal 2013, the system produced its first successful test-takers this February. Kitakyushu hopes the the program will help alleviate the shortage of nurses in regional areas. So far, two women have passed the nursing exam, and 11 women earned nursing assistant certification. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 5/8
