Kumamon Cafe to Open in Shanghai

A Kumamon cafe called ‘Kuma Cafe’ will open in Shanghai at the end of the month. The shop will sell Kumamoto and Kumamon-themed goods and occupies a floor space of 147 sq meters over two floors. The shop hopes to sell ¥25,000,000 of Kumamoto produce in its first year, not including sales from the cafe or sales of the Kumamon character. Kuma Cafe has so far opened in two locations in Taiwan and the shops receive an average of 5,000 customers a month. Shanghai was chosen as the third location after requests from fans across the world. Source: Nikkei Shinbun, Nov. 29, 2016
