From Aug. 3 (Wed.), Kyushu Shinkansen will start selling a new one-way discount ticket for travel between Kumamoto and Kagoshima. The ticket is called “ Limited to Weekends and Holidays! Kyushu Net Hayatoku 7”. These one-way tickets can only be used on weekends and holidays, and only for direct travel between Kumamoto and Kagoshima Chuo stations (not for stops between these two stations). Tickets are available for travel between Sep. 3 and Dec. 18, and must be booked no earlier than a month and no later than a week before the date of travel. An adult discount ticket costs ¥5,000, and a child discount ticket costs ¥2,500 (¥1,940 less than non-discounted tickets). These tickets can only be purchased online. Seating is reserved. These tickets are one-way only; for a roundtrip, customers must purchase two one-way tickets. Source: Nishitetsu press release, 7/26
